Free time during the yoga Retreat – Benalmadena

When you are at any of our Yoga Retreats in Malaga, we will provide you with a general schedule including yoga classes, workshops and guided meditations sessions.
Beside there are many more activities for you to choose on, making your day as full or quiet as you desire.
Many people love to come to our yoga retreat just to relax by the swimming pool, read some books, observing the beautiful trees, the sea, enjoying a massage , talking with new friends, spending time alone or simply taking extra naps.

Others like to explore with the many activities around Benalmadena Pueblo.
-There are nice shops, restaurants, a museum of Arte Precolombino and the oldest church in Benalmadena.(1621).
It is a typical Andalucian village with white houses and charming streets and fantastic views towards the Bahia de Fuengirola
– You can visit a Buddhist Temple, Stupa from Benalmadena, with its shop where you can find literature about Buddhism and traditional artifacts from the Himalayan. Close on Mondays. In front of The Stupa, you can visiti the Mariposario, Butterfly park, where you can relax and contemplate all stages of reproduction including caterpillars and chrysalis, as well as new butterflies hatching in cages.
-El parque La Paloma, Paloma Park, very beautiful space with lots of trees, a lake, and small animals, free entrance, and opens everyday. Very close to Arroyo de La Miel, and to the coast of the beautiful beaches of Benalmadena.
-Arroyo de la Miel is also a charming small modern town inside Benalmadena .It is a real hubbub of activity. In the centre of town that you find the train station, which connects Benalmadena with Malaga and Fuengirola. Between 2 and 4 most of the shops are closed , since is the Spanish time for lunch and siesta.
– The teleferico, this cable car running to the summit of the 769-metre Calamorro mountain, which provides panoramic views over the Sierra Nevada, Gibraltar and on clear days, the Morrocan coastline.
– A visit to the Monument Castle Colomares, you can see it from the retreat and it is a short walk away. It is closed during lunch time, so be aware of going before 1pm and after 4pm.
– Just 10 minutes by car or taxi, Benalmadena Costa with it’s rocky coastline and the beautiful marina with some nice shops, restaurants and boat trips. It is very modern and walking distance from Torremolinos. Or going into direction Marbella, stop in Fuengirola with flat beaches and a long boulevard.

Finally if you want to learn Spanish, there is the possibility to have some private classes during the retreat.

These are some of our favorite things to see and that are very close to our Yoga Retreat in Benalmadena, but of course there are many other recreations and places to discover during your free time .
Hope to see you soon in beautiful Benalmadena-or ‘Ben-al-madina’, what means ‘Children of the Mines’, because many centuries ago, iron ore was mined in the area.
